Kerwin Fry Obituary
Kerwin "Cub" Hale Fry, a devoted, hard-working, kind-hearted, and faithful man, passed away on November 5, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on April 15, 1930, in Columbia, Pennsylvania, Cub was a resident of Columbus, Indiana.
Cub was a 1948 graduate of Columbia High School in Columbia, PA. He served his country as a veteran of the Korean War, serving in both the US Army and the US Air Force as a Staff Sergeant for eight years. His dedication and bravery earned him several medals and commendations, including the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the Korean War Service Medal awarded by the Republic of South Korea.
In his professional life, Cub was employed in various sales and management positions with Mobile Oil Company, retiring in 1985 after 29 years of service. Following his retirement, he continued to contribute to his community as the Executive Director of the Indiana Service Station Dealers Association, General Manager of Kiel Bros. Oil Co., and Vice-President of Excel Equipment and Supply Co., Greenwood. His leadership was recognized through his election to the Board of Directors of the Indiana Oil Marketers Association and his appointment by Governor Frank O'Bannon to the Indiana Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission, where he served for six years.
Cub was also a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, the American Legion, Moose Lodge #398, and a life member of the VFW.
Cub is survived by his daughter, Sheryl Crase of Shelbyville, Indiana, and his sons, Michael Fry of Sebring, Florida, and Jeffrey Fry (Laura) of Franklin, Tennessee. He is also survived by five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Shirley E. Fry, his father, William M. Crase, his mother, Catherine E. (Striffmater) Fry, and his brothers, William Fry and Barry Fry.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Myers-Reed Chapel with Rev. Chris Wadelton as celebrant. Friends are invited to gather with the family from 12 noon until service time. Inurnment will be at Washington Park East Cemetery, located at 10612 E Washington Street, Indianapolis.
