Nancy Kirlin Obituary

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Nancy Jane Kirlin, age 84, passed away on Friday afternoon, March 15, 2024, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana surrounded by her loving family. Born July 6,1939, she was the daughter of Herbert Muckridge and Mary (Butler) Muckridge of Wayne County, Indiana.

In 1957, Nancy graduated from Cambridge City High School. On March 9, 1958, Nancy married the love of her life, Charles Austin Kirlin. Nancy and Charles recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Nancy was a proud mother of three daughters and served in the capacity of secretary/treasurer for Kirlin Farms, Inc. in Milton, Indiana.

Nancy was a founding member of the In and Around Home Ec Club and member of the Psi Iota Xi - Beta Pi Sorority. She was a lifelong member of the Milton Christian Church serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Deaconess, and Church Secretary. After 52 years, Nancy and Charles retired from farming and moved to Columbus, Indiana, where she attended the Westside Community Church and was a faithful member of Ruby Tuesday's Women's Fellowship Group.

In addition to her duties as a wife, mother, and grandmother, Nancy was an active volunteer in both Wayne and Bartholomew Counties supporting charitable endeavors, such as, Meals on Wheels and Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Nancy's passion in life was her family. She made sure that all holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and other milestones were celebrated as a family. One of her favorite places to make family memories was in Hilton Head, South Carolina. It was truly a special place for her surrounded by her daughters and son-in-laws, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Nancy is survived by her loving and faithful husband of 66 years, Charles Austin Kirlin and their three daughters: Deborah (Brad) Howell of West Harrison, Indiana; Susan (TIm) Larken of Columbus, Indiana; and Julie (Brad) Davis of Columbus, Indiana. Her ten grandchildren: Chase (Andrea) Howell, Lawrenceburg, Indiana; Chelsea (Mike) Berkery, Bargersville, Indiana; Ali Patberg, Bloomington, Indiana; Hannah (Jimmy) Atterholt, Pasadena, California; Daniel Larken, Weehawken, New Jersey; Abigail (Joshua) Flout, Freetown, Indiana; Makenzie Patberg, Indianapolis, Indiana; Gracie Davis, Lafayette, Indiana; Samuel Larken, Cincinnati, Ohio; and Isabelle Larken, New York City, New York. And four great grandchildren: Berkley and Britain Howell and Colton and Charlotte Berkery. And one sister: Carol (David) Cotton of Wallingford, Connecticut, as well as a niece and nephews.

Nancy is preceded in death by her brother, Don (Irene) Muckridge of Cambridge City, Indiana.

Nancy's family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the healthcare professionals at the IU Health Simon Cancer Center, Columbus Regional Hospital, Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, and her caregiver, Perpetua Mupandawana.

Visitation for Nancy Jane Kirlin will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel, 1010 East Main Street, Cambridge City, Indiana. On Friday, March 22, 2024 a visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Milton Christian Church, 307 S. Central Ave., Milton, Indiana, followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dennis Aud officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Milton Christian Church or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
