Peggy Lowman Obituary
Peggy was born December 28, 1943, in Columbus, Indiana, the daughter of William C. and Leona Grace Downey Rutan. On July 31, 1965 she married Garrel L. Lowman.
Mrs. Lowman was a longtime "lunch lady" working for Bartholomew County Consolidated Schools in the cafeteria. She was quick witted and never shy to share her opinion. Reading native American books and watching westerns were some of the ways Peggy spent her spare time. She loved anything nature and certainly enjoyed the outdoors. Mrs. Lowman looked forward to her trips to Cherokee, North Carolina. It is here that she truly found peace and quiet while surrounded by the nature that she loved. Peggy will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved her.
Survivors include her daughter, Tammy Reel of Elizabethtown; grandchildren, Alonza (David) Brown, Melody Petro, Justin (Julia) Petro, all of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Callee (Bryce) Fredericksen, Raven Rathburn, Aiden De Haven, Makaela West, Wade Petro, Jenna Petro; great-great-grandchildren, Xavier Fredericksen, Leona Lashly, Lula Fredericksen; sisters, Betty Fish of Texas, Nancy Peaslee of Newburn, Rebecca (Kevin) Tibbs of Hope; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Garrel; sister, Doris Bennett and nephews, Eric Lowman and John M. Bennett.
In keeping with Peggy's request, cremation will take place and a graveside inurnment service will be held Friday, August 8, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Christiansburg Cemetery with Pastor Ancel Harden officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
