Elizabeth Montanari Obituary

Elizabeth Glennon Montanari
Elizabeth Glennon Montanari, known to all as Glenny, died on June 14, 2025 at Danbury Hospital after a sudden illness.
Glenny was born in Norwalk, Connecticut, on October 14, 1953 to Ernest and Alice (McCoy) Swanson. She graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1971 and from Endicott College in Massachusetts in 1973 with a degree in fashion design. At the beginning of her career, Glenny worked in New York City's Garment District as a buyer for an apparel brand. She traded the city for home life after she married Peter J. Montanari in 1981 and had two daughters, Kelsey and Courtney.
Glenny brightened countless lives around Ridgefield, where she lived for her entire life, with her warm, cheerful personality. She was an avid member of the Ridgefield Garden Club and an accomplished photographer. She also remained active in planning class reunions and staying in touch with lifelong friends. She loved the beaches of Cape Cod and spending time there with friends and family. A beloved member of the Scotts Ridge Middle School community, Glenny worked as a paraprofessional and was a constant presence at Ridgefield High School sporting events, where she served as head of ticket sales.
Her greatest joy was her family. Glenny was a devoted and cherished mother to her daughters. In recent years, she found immense happiness in being "GaGa" to her four grandchildren, with whom she spent as much time as she possibly could. Glenny was generous, kind, and a friend to all she met. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Alice. She is survived by her brother, Robert Swanson, and his wife, Debbie; her daughters, Kelsey and Courtney; and her sons-in-law, Ryan Carpe and Inqi Abdur-Rasheed. She is also survived by her four adored grandchildren: Caroline and Charlie Carpe and Cayden and Kaia Abdur-Rasheed.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary's Church, 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment will be private. Contributions in Glenny's memory may be made to the Mary Ellen and Samuel Klein, MD Critical Care Unit at Danbury Hospital at http://nuvancehealth.org.

I had the pleasure of first meeting Glenny years ago when my son Ryan and Kelsey started dating while in college. She was an amazing and kind person and always had a smile when you saw her and brightened the room just being there.I got to know her to be great Mother and Grandmother to her daughters and grandchildren who adoringly called her gaga and loved spending time with her creating memories that will last a lifetime and also got to see how she touched so many lives in a positive way throughout her lifetime which represents the character of the special person she was.
I know she will be missed by many but not forgotten and i am glad i had the pleasure and honor of knowing her and the great memories of the holidays and family events we all got to spend with her.Heaven truly gained another Angel.
