Matty Joyce

Matthew James Joyce,  beloved husband and devoted father, passed away March 25, 2013 at his home in Ridgefield

Matthew was born to Gerard F Joyce and Maureen O'Reilly Joyce in Manhattan on October 19, 1960

Matty is survived by his wife Elizabeth, and by his three children, Emma, Liam and Patrick He is also survived by his siblings Madeline Joyce, Gerard Joyce, William Joyce, Jennifer O'Brien, and Christopher Joyce, and his six nieces and eight nephews

Matty grew up in Port Washington, NY He earned a BA in Political Science from SUNY at Cortland College and studied his junior year at Beijing Teachers College in Beijing, China

Matty worked on the floor of the American Stock Exchange as a member for 25 years and was a member of the AMEX  5 & 20 Club With his friends on the AMEX, he raised over a quarter million dollars for the St Augustine Food Pantry in Brooklyn

He was a Deacon and member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Rye, NY

Matty was an Assistant Scout Master and committee member for Boy Scout Troop 116 He truly enjoyed his Scouting experience and had a lasting effect on many Scouts and families

Matty was always thought of as a "go to" parent and dedicated much of his time and energy to Scouts Matty was an enthusiastic member of CERT He was an avid scuba diver and just fulfilled his longtime wish to have a family portrait with his wife and children under the water scuba diving together in the Bahamas

Matty is remembered for his radiant joy, big laugh, and great heart for those in need and for his loving devotion to his family His hard work, dedication and wit will be missed by all

The family will receive friends at the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St, Ridgefield on Wednesday from 4 PM to 8 PM Funeral services will take place on Thursday at 11 AM in the Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church, Ridgefield Interment will follow
