William "Bill" S. Weathers Sr., 85, went home to his Lord Dec. 16 in Knoxville.
Bill was born April 27, 1938, in Sheffield, Alabama to his wonderful parents Ewell and Nell Sims Weathers. Bill and his brother, J.T., grew up in Knoxville.
Bill graduated from Young High School in 1956, briefly attended the University of Tennessee and followed with a 40-year career in heating and air conditioning sales. Career opportunities allowed him to live and work in multiple locations in Tennessee, Virginia, Florida and Georgia, before moving to Rogersville in 1993. Bill retired from Hawkins County Gas Company in 2003 as an Equipment Sales Manager.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents: Ewell and Nell of Knoxville; and his hero big brother: Col. J.T., USA, Retired, Cascade, Maryland.
Bill is survived by his children: Bill Jr. (Beth) of Savannah, Georgia, Frank (Julienne) of Knoxville, and Katherine of Loganville, Georgia; his grandchildren: Martin (Maika) of Statesboro, Georgia, and Nathan, Emily and Scott of Knoxville; his great-grandchildren: Liam, Cash, and Wynn of Statesboro; his niece: Mickie Kaye (James) Walters of Texas; nephews: J.T. Jr. of Virginia and Col. Bruce (Kristi) Kent, USA, Retired of North Carolina; several cousins in various locations; and many friends and neighbors in the Rogersville and Church Hill community. He also leaves his very special lady friend, sweetheart and sister in Christ: Ms. Lois L. Trent of Rogersville.
Bill was an active member of the First Christian Church of Rogersville and loved being a part of its congregation.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until noon Dec. 28 at First Christian Church of Rogersville, Depot Street. A celebration of life will follow at noon at the church conducted by Randy Overdorf.
Private internment will follow in McKinney Cemetery in Rogersville.
Honorary pallbearers will include Howard Moody, Darryl Castle, Kerry Jackson, Eddy Ward, Craig Snapp, Sammy Keys and Randy Ball.
In lieu of flowers, the Weathers Family requests memorial donations to either The First Christian Church, P.O. Box 312, Rogersville, TN 37857; or Of One Accord Ministries, 306 E. Main Street, Rogersville, TN 37857
