Paul Thompson Obituary
His funeral will be Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Jay Phillips officiating. Burial will follow with Masonic Graveside Rites conducted by Yadkin Falls A. F. & A. M. Lodge #637.
Visitation will be Wednesday night at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle from 6 to 8 p.m.
Born January 23, 1942 in Stanly County, NC he was the son of the late Paul Lee Thompson Sr. and Mary Esther Lowder Thompson.
He was affiliated with the United Methodist Church and was a retired Millwright with Alcoa.
For 23 years he ran the cash register at Jays Seafood on Stony Gap Road.
He loved tractors and his family, especially his grandchildren.
P. L. was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Sue Fesperman Thompson.
Survivors include son Allen Thompson (Lauran) of Albemarle, daughters Beth Efird (Anthony) of Albemarle and Traci Thompson (Larry) of New London, brother Willie Thompson (Valerie) of Albemarle, seven grandchildren, Ashley Bowers (B.J.), Cathryn Clayton (Brett), Sarah Efird, Adam Efird, Jake Thompson, Ryan Thompson and Rita Thompson, stepgrandson Justin Smith; four great-grandchildren, Ben Bowers, Chloe Bowers, Isaac Bowers, and Jasper Bowers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Eloise Wilson.

I knew PL from when he lived beside my grandmother. I would go speak with him when I was a kid, and I remember he had a trailer in the driveway. I found that I could move it like a see-saw by moving from the back to the front, and he enjoyed seeing that. Allen and I would run from one end to the other.
I lost track of him for years, and moved from that area, but I saw him again at Jay's when I was back for a visit and he remembered how we played on the trailer. Every time I would go back I would try to see him afterwards and enjoyed talking with him. I will miss him, and pray for comfort for the family.

So many memories of Mr. P.L. at Denton and Jays, and picking on Clint about the flywheel - he will be missed. Praying for the family for your loss especially through the holiday season.

So many memories of P.L.
We remember him from Denton Farm Park. We looked so forward to seeing him every year. He always brightens up our day just by stopping by the tractor gate.
