COBDEN - Barbara Jane (Stanley) Eaves, 85, of Overton County, went to her heavenly home on Oct. 1, 2025, from her residence in the Rickman, Tennessee, community.
Born in Cobden, on Sept. 26, 1940, Barbara recently celebrated her 85th birthday. She now celebrates every day with her savior, Jesus Christ. She was born to Lawrence Franklin Stanley and Mabel Mae Smith as one of nine children.
Barbara is survived by her son, Charles Lynn (Jennifer) Eaves of Rickman; her daughter, Kimberly Ann Eaves of Johnson City, Tennessee; her grandchildren, TSgt. Charles Justin Eaves, Kristina Marie Grindstaff and Natalie Lynn Eaves; her great-grandchildren, Bryce Eaves, Tristan Eaves, Riley Grindstaff and Jaxon Grindstaff; sisters, Carol Stanley and Vera Davenport; and brothers, Larry Stanley, Garry Stanley and Stoney Stanley.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, CMSgt. Charles Leon Eaves, in 2012; her sister, Sue McClain; and twin sisters who died in infancy.
Barbara's precious feline companion, Jasper, also survives. He was of great comfort to her during her final moments. Jasper, we promise to give you some extra attention as you grieve with us after losing your best friend. Your cuddles will be treasured even more in the days ahead.
After uniting in marriage, Barbara and Charles chose to serve their country in the Air Force where Charles reached the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Traveling from assignment to assignment, they instilled a strong work ethic in their children. Barbara worked as a merchandiser with American Greetings while also doing her part to care for the kids. An avid reader of history, Barbara was especially interested in the English Monarchy. Good with her hands, she also enjoyed needlepoint and had been known as a fabulous artist to her family.
Barbara was affiliated with Life Church in Cookeville, Tennessee, and also was a Baptist. Although she will be missed, it is comforting to know she is with Jesus. The family expresses their thanksgiving to the services provided by Gentiva Hospice, especially to Anna and Connie.
