Carl Jones Obituary

GOREVILLE - Carl "Jack" Jones, 75, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008, in Southgate Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Nursing Home in Metropolis.

Carl was born Jan. 26, 1933, in Marion, to Clarence and Mollie (Parks) Jones.

He married Joanna Joy Stearns on June 1, 1968, in Goreville.

Survivors include his wife, Joy Jones of Goreville; sister and brother-in-law, Lula Faye and Shirley Midgett of Marion; brother-in-law, Max Herman Hudgens of Marion; mother-in-law, Violet Stearns of Goreville; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Blanchard Jones; and three sisters, Ruth Rendleman, Imogene Hudgens and Ina Mae Robertson.

Carl attended Busby Chapel Church in Goreville. He was a member of Saline Masonic Lodge 339 of Goreville; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Lodge Council Chapter Consistory Valley of Southern Illinois; Ainad Temple in East St. Louis; and the Williamson County Shrine Club.

Carl was employed by Parker-Hannifin of Des Plaines for 29 years. He retired after 11 years of employment at Contour Saws, also in Des Plains.

Jack loved playing the banjo. He and Joy shared the gospel through their music for 27 years. They moved to Goreville in 1996.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2008, in Busby Chapel Church in Goreville. The Rev. Kenneth Blumenstock will officiate, and John Montgomery will deliver the eulogy. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2008, at the church. Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday in the church. Interment will be in Busby Cemetery in Goreville. Military honors will be presented by VFW Post 1301 of Marion, American Legion Post 147 of Marion and the National Guard.

Memorials may be made to Busby Chapel Church building fund or Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.

Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale is in charge of arrangements.

Joy, I hope you are getting along ok for now. I know you have had a tough row to hoe for the last few months. If there is anything we can do to help you, please call us.
