Dale Lacy Obituary

MURPHYSBORO - Dale Ray Lacy, 50, passed away at 1:57 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, in Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, in Pettett Funeral Home. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009; and until 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Dale was born on Feb. 28, 1959, in Chicago, to Raymond B. Lacy and Carolin (Thomas) Lacy.

While growing up in Murphysboro, he had been a cub scout and a boy scout. During the summer months in high school, he had worked at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

He later worked on the railroad for Illinois Central, on a river boat, as a pressman at Penn Aluminum for quite some time, in construction, and then at Elder Beerman. More recently, he worked at Gilster-Mary Lee.

Dale loved to go fishing.

Mr. Lacy was a member of First Christian Church, Moose Lodge and American Legion Post 127, all in Murphysboro.

He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Lacy of Murphysboro; his sister, Pamela Clutts and her companion James Hoppenstedt of Murphysboro; his companion, Judy Shelby of Murphysboro, in which next month, they would have been together 14 years; and many close friends.

He is preceded in death by his father.

I am so sorry to hear of Dale passing away. We had so many good times as kids. Although I have not seen Dale for quite some time, I will always cherish those times we had growing up. We really enjoyed collecting butterflies, moths, bugs, frogs, snakes, turtles and just about anything we could find. Thanks Dale for all those great memories.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
