John Drew Obituary

BENTON - John D. Drew, 61, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at his home.

He was born May 17, 1948, in Ewing to Howard and Betty (Scrutchfield) Drew; they preceded him in death.

John began practicing as an attorney in 1979 and retired after 30 years of service.

He was a member of Franklin County Bar Association and Illinois Bar Association, President of Benton Little League and a member of Franklin County Country Club.

John is survived by his wife, Cookie Drew, of Benton; two sons, Bryan Drew and wife, Melissa, of Benton and Jason Drew of Benton; two granddaughters, Olivia and Victoria Drew of Benton; uncle, Paul Drew; and aunt, Mary McDowell.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Immanuel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ron Cremeens officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Oddfellows Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church.

Memorials are requested to John D. Drew Memorial Scholarship Fund at Rend Lake College.

Morton and Johnston Funeral Home in Benton is in charge of arrangements.
