My thoughts and prayers are with you for this terrible loss and your sacrifice will not be forgotten. SSgt Emerick was smart, dedicated courageous young man. I served with then Cpl Emerick at Marine Forces Reserve HQ in New Orleans in 2004 when he decided to change jobs from his Administrative job to volunteer to be EOD technician and deploy. We were all very proud of him and knew he would excel in such a demanding job. His heroism and dedication to his fellow Marines will not be forgotten.Semper Fidelis

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Emrick Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Jordan B. Emrick US Marine Staff Sergeant. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

To the family of Jordan Emrick,
I only know of Jordan through one of my best friends who was a marine. He is the only one I know of on a personal level who was KIA and I wanted to say thank you to the family in remembrance of Memorial Day. Our freedom comes at a terrible cost and I wanted the family to know that our heroes are never forgotten, even by those whom they've never met. I cannot express how thankful I am for his service to this country. My prayers go out to you.

To the mother of USMC Zierk. What a tribute and honor this is to our son, SSgt Jordan B. Emrick. We are still just so overwhelmed with the information that is coming forward. He really did touch a lot of lives during his time on earth. Please know that this means so much to us. Proud of a great "Hero". Maybe someday we can meet the father and son with the middle name of EMRICK. Thank you all so much!

To the Family of Jordan Emrick.
Marines don't do a lot of talking about their combat experiences. Their routine statement is, "I just did my job." Please allow me to share with you that Jordan B. Emrick has touched my heart beyond comprehension, even though I've never met him in person. That dreadful day, he saved two lives with his heroism ... one of which which was my son's life. I didn't realize the magnitute of the day, nor were details ever disclosed to me. Until now. You see, my son and his wife are expecting their first baby in May of 2012 ... a boy ... My first grandchild. His name? Cayden Emrick Zierk. I will love that little fellow and will always be reminded of Jordan while wishing Jordan would not have laid down his life so others can live. Just wanted to share this with you.

Forever in sad gratitude.
Mom of the JTAC Marine whose life was saved because of Jordan.

Please accept my deepest sympathy. I have learned of SSgt Emrick's loss of life after receiving a phone call that my son was injured. He was working in very close proximity to your Hero, calling for air support when the IED went off. I can't imagine the pain receiving a visit from a CACO officer. May cherished memories keep you going hour by hour and day by day.

Am so very sorry for your great loss!

Dear Emrick Family,

It was both an honor and privilege to know Jordan as a fellow Marine, friend and skydiver. We had such fun at the drop zone, talking about what we were going to do on the next jump, and sharing stories about the Corps… I remember when Jordan was still on his A license, and as soon as he made that 50th jump, he immediately went from the student / A license landing area to the main landing area. Such determination!

I know there is nothing I can say for there is no greater pain than losing a child. Below is a poem I received when I lost my son in September 2009. I pray God will give you comfort, and know that you are in my prayers.

They Say There is a Reason

They say there is a reason,
...They say that time will heal,
But neither time nor reason,
Will change the way I feel,
For no-one knows the heartache,
That lies behind our smiles,
No-one knows how many times,
We have broken down and cried,
We want to tell you something
So there won't be any doubt,
You're so wonderful to think of,
But so hard to be without.

Dear Emrick family,

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. I truly feel your loss and pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Jordan will never be forgotten.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

I don't have a clue what to say or how to say it... your pain must be overwhelming. But I wanted you to know that my son spoke to Jordan only an hour before he was killed. They were in a morning briefing together. My son liked and respected Jordan very much as did all the Marines in that unit . Justin called us Saturday morning he was so distraught... the saying that the death of one diminishes all is true. Jordan will not be forgotten and he will always be missed by his Marine brothers who looked up to him and called him their friend.

Dear Emrick family,

I would like to express my deepest sympathies and condolences for such a great loss. At this moment I am feeling sadness, but also can recall the first and last time I met him jumping at Elsinore, the day before his deployment, happy doing what he truly enjoyed and looked forward to.

While I only knew him for an afternoon, I could truly see the spirit, easy-going and care-free attitude he carried with him; these entries I'm reading are further testament of how respected and loved he was. This is how I will remember him.

Blue skies Jordan.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to S/Sgt. Jordan Emrick our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Jordan. And to Jordan it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Jordan, you are a brave Marine Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,335 Legionnaire Veterans of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Jordan’s family and loved ones. Semper Fi !
