Kamran Mogharreban Obituary
CARBONDALE - Kamran Mogharreban, 71, of Carbondale died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, in SIH Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
He worked at Southern Illinois University for 24 years, retiring from the position of administrative information systems director in 2019.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Shum; children, Mehdi Mogharreban, Majeed Mogharreban and Elhaum McClain; grandchildren, Ruby Mogharreban and Charles Mogharreban; two brothers, Namdar Mogharreban and Nader Mogharreban, as well as many other relatives and friends.
It was the wishes of Kamran that his body be donated to SIU-School of Medicine for scientific medical studies. A Celebration of Life at the Carbondale Unitarian Fellowship will be scheduled in the near future.
Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

I first met Kamran Mogharreban when I was working at SIUC. Since I retired a few years ago I got to know him even better when we started our SIU colleague´s weekly zoom meeting. He was always a positive, kind, knowledgable, funny and likable person. He was a kind man with a big heart. His unfortunate illness and early passing has saddened all of us. He is greatly missed.
My family and I send our sincerest condolences to all his family and friends.
May he rest in peace!
