CARBONDALE - Kamran Mogharreban, 71, of Carbondale passed away Saturday, Sept 27, 2025, at SIH Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
He was born on Aug. 7, 1954, to Ismael Mogharreban and Akram (Khorsand) Mogharreban in Tehran, Iran.
He worked at Southern Illinois University for 24 years, retiring from the position of administrative information systems director in 2019. Kamran enjoyed meeting friends and colleagues for coffee and lunch. He loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Shum; children, Mehdi Mogharreban, Majeed Mogharreban and Elhaum (Will) McClain; grandchildren, Ruby Mogharreban and Charles Mogharreban; two brothers, Namdar (Cathy) Mogharreban and Nader Mogharreban, as well as many other relatives and friends.
It was the wishes of Kamran that his body be donated to SIU-School of Medicine for scientific medical studies. A family led Celebration of Life will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, in the Carbondale Unitarian Fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, the family will designate preferred charities for memorial donations in the near future.
