Marie Mozi Obituary

DU QUOIN -- Marie K. Mozi, 83, passed away at 4:50 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, in Sparta Community Hospital.

Marie was a homemaker. She had worked at Perfection Club and Fair Acres Nursing Home as a cook. She was of Catholic faith.

She was born Sept. 21, 1928, in Du Quoin, the daughter of William and Mary (Wendling) Hemmer.

She married Charlie Mozi on April 18, 1947, in Osceola, Ark., and he preceded her in death Sept. 21, 1989.

She is survived by five children, Mary Miller and husband, Melvin, of Pinckneyville, Charla Funk and John Luberda of Elkville, Joyce Sprenger and husband, Gary, of Pinckneyville, Charley Mozi and JoAnn Moore of Du Quoin and Tracy Cicardi and husband, Rick, of Pinckneyville; one brother, Wilbur Hemmer of Du Quoin; two sisters Patsy Wheatley of Du Quoin and Marcella Hayes of Pinckneyville; eight grandchildren, Nicole Heape, Natasha Ford, Bart Funk, Brandon Funk, Bryan Funk, Brooke Funk, Bryer Funk and Kelsey Cicardi; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Delbert Hemmer and wife, Betty, and Edward Hemmer and wife, Shirley; one sister, Betty Graff; and one granddaughter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, in Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Brother Jerry Aken officiating. Burial will be in Sa-cred Heart Cemetery in Du Quoin. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Friends may make memorials to American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
