Robert Crawshaw

I mourn the loss of Bob today
I mourn for the ache Betty will feel tomorrow

I mourn the void the family will know this year
I mourn the most for what was left here.

I mourn for the block of wood, with the
sculpture left inside never to be freed.

I mourn for the ink, with the drawing
lodged in its barrel, waiting for bond.

I mourn for the paint abandoned
on the easel, not touching the canvas.

I mourn for the metal and brass, wanting
to be trained and kept on track.

I mourn for the flintlock, soon covered
in rust.

I mourn for his faithful pocket knife,
whittling away,……. laying in dust.
