HERRIN - Russell Ray Bailey, 72, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2021, at his home in Herrin, IL. His final weeks were spent surrounded by loving family and friends.
Russell was born on January 10, 1949 in Wayne City, IL, to Homer and Rachel (Isaacs) Bailey.
He worked at Allen Industries/Sheller-Globe/Dayco Industries/United Technologies Corporation in Herrin for 25 years, and Continental Tire in Mt. Vernon for 20 years.
Russell enjoyed spending time with his family, and camping and boating during his summers. He was an avid NASCAR, drag racing, and football fan.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Brenda Bailey of Herrin; two daughters: Diana (Tom) Restivo of Bloomington, and Christina (Will Jackson) Watson of Johnston City; one stepdaughter, Tonya (Derrick Walker) Stephenson of Herrin; two stepsons: Tim (Ashley) Stephenson of Carterville and James (Diane) Stephenson of Herrin; four grandchildren: Madison Restivo of La Rioja, Spain, Camryn Restivo of Bloomington, Cory Bandera of Herrin, and Brendon (Daisy Frost) Masters of Herrin; three step-grandchildren: Troy Walker of Herrin and Xzavier and Emmet Stephenson of Carterville; one great-grandchild, Miles Masters of Herrin; siblings: Louise (Olin) Easley of McLeansboro and Norman (Mary) Bailey of Energy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his niece, Theresa Easley; his nephew, Michael Easley; and several aunts and uncles.
In accordance with Russell's wishes, no services will be held. The family extends a sincere thanks to Residential Hospice and Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home.
Russell will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever in our hearts. Memorial contributions honoring Russell Bailey may be made to the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Brenda, I am Judi Tyree, a cousin of Russell. Our moms were 1st cousins and our dads were brothers I haven't seen him for a few years. He and I were the same age. I have fond memories of him, Norman & Louise. So sorry to hear about his passing. We will be keeping your family in our prayers.
