Steven Doughty Obituary

Steven "Steve" Lee Doughty, a beloved family man, passed away on October 24, 2025, at the age of 59. Steve was born on June 1, 1966, in Marion, Illinois, and was a resident of Elizabethtown, Kentucky at the time of his death.

He was a proud member of Boys Scouts of America, attending many of the National Jamborees and ultimately earning the highest rank of an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Crab Orchard High School in 1984 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Murray State University in 1988. He dedicated over 35 years of his professional life working at Publishers Printing Company, after spending his childhood developing a love for the industry at his parent's print shop.

Steve loved betting on the horses at the racetrack, fishing, and, most importantly, spending quality time with his family.

Steve is survived by his wife, Joanne; daughters, Ashley Doughty (Walter Sparkman) and Taylor Doughty; stepsons, William Hopkins and Jacob Hopkins; parents, James and Marless Doughty; brother, Trevor Doughty (Lisa); three nephews and two great-nieces.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gist Cancer Research fund at https://gistinfo.org/.

A memorial visitation and prayer service will be held at Brown Funeral Home, located at 306 College St., Elizabethtown, KY 42701, on October 30, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Steve and our son, Boyd became the best of friends through the Boy Scouts. They lived and worked for two summers at Camp Pine Ridge where they helped set the proper standards for hundreds of young Scouts. Jointly, they were known as Flint and Steel. The two joined the Egyptian Council contingent of Scouts attending the 1981 National Jamboree at Fort AP Hill, Virginia. Steve later joined up with Scouts from Anna to tour several western states and complete a ten day trek in the Philmont Scout Ranch near Cimarron, New Mexico. When learning of Steve's passing, Boyd said "For a few years, he was my best friend in the world". Our family sends thoughts and prayers to each of you in Steve's family.
