Audrey Hatch Obituary

Audrey Hatch

St. George, Utah

July 4, 2013, beloved Wife, Mother, Grand mother, Great-Grand mother, and Great-Great-Grandmother, Audrey Barton Hatch, passed from this earthly world to return Home and to join her beloved husband, Orson Fred Hatch. Audrey was born in Paragonah, Utah June 1, 1922 to Otta Barton. Upon the marriage of Otta to Clarence Vest, the three moved to California where Audrey's sister, Opal Jane was born. Otta became very ill and passed away in December 1927. Audrey was raised by her grandparents, John Samuel Penn Barton and Martha Elizabeth Williamson Barton.

Audrey married her childhood sweetheart, Orson Fred Hatch on May 31, 1939, in Paragonah, Utah. On January 12, 1945, they were sealed for eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. After moving several times between Utah and Idaho, Fred was drafted to serve in World War II. Audrey, with two small girls, kept the home fires burning for about two years until Fred returned.

Audrey and Fred had Opal Dean in Panguitch, Utah, Sharon Louise in Rupert, Idaho, and Rulon Fred in Burley, Idaho. At this time Fred and Audrey moved to California where Fred began his career in underground construction, and where Elizabeth Dale was born.

Audrey received an award in school for her outstanding Palmer Method penmanship. She attended adult night school, in Fresno, CA, at age 35, and received her high school diploma, which meant a lot to her.

Audrey was a very talented and organized mother. She could sew absolutely anything from suits to curtains. Throughout our lives mom made many of our clothes. She took up cake decorating in her later life where she made beautiful wedding cakes. Many of these wedding cakes were for her own children, their friends, and grandchildren. She won several blue ribbons for her cake decorating.

Audrey was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in almost every calling, including as an ordinance worker in the Washington DC Temple when it was newly opened.

Audrey's greatest love and interests were always in her family and husband. She has been a wonderful friend and teacher to many, a loving, caring mother to her children and a help-meet to her husband Fred whom she adored.

She is survived by her four children Opal (John) Hopson, Anderson, CA, Sharon (Russell) Ray, Logan, UT, R. Fred (Donita) Hatch, Rupert, ID, E. Dale (Dan) Johnson, Palmdale, CA. Twenty-four Grandchildren, 57 Great-grandchildren, and 2 Great-great Grandchildren.

Mom, we love and appreciate all you have done and will continue to do for us your grateful family. You will be missed more than you will ever know, but we know Daddy won't be lonely anymore. Until we meet again, Love your family.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful hospice teams that cared for mom, Southern Utah Hospice in St. George and CNS Hospice in Logan.

A viewing and funeral will be held at the Green Valley 3rd Ward building, 450 South Indian Hills Drive, in St. George, Utah on Friday, July 12, 2013, 10:00 am viewing,11:00 am funeral. She has chosen her final resting place to be in Paragonah along side of her eternal companion. Interment will be at 3PM on Friday. Arrangements were made with Mosdell Mortuary.
