Diana Chaney Obituary

Diana Kay Chaney

St. George

Born on December 12, 1945 to Robert and Wanda Rice in Livermore, CA, Diana was spirited and kind from the beginning. She grew up in Reno, NV where she later met her sweetheart, Clifford W. (Bill) Chaney, Jr. while working for United Airlines. The couple wed on December 4, 1971.

Diana loved her family more than anything else and was a very active and caring member of her community throughout her life. An avid skier and outdoorswoman, Diana was happiest on the mountain skiing. She also loved playing tennis, hiking, walking, traveling, sewing and caring for others. She served three part-time missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was active with the Young Women. She also served as Relief Society President in Park City.

Diana passed away peacefully on January 12, 2015 with loved ones by her side at her St. George home.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Bill Chaney; her mother, Wanda Rice and sister, Linda (Barry) Spanier; her children whom she loved so very much: Bill (Vicki Sabatini) Chaney, Jr., Elizabeth (Mark) Chaney-Hall, Craig (Kate Cirillo) Chaney and Candice Chaney (Alastair Wright); as well as her three grandchildren: Celeste Chaney, Chelsea Chaney and Cailey Chaney.

Diana touched the lives of all who were lucky enough to know her and she will be greatly missed by many.

A memorial service will be held in Diana's honor on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Park City LDS Stake Center, 2300 Monitor Drive, Park City, Utah, 84060. Diana was a delight to be around. She had a spirit of compassion and happiness that was just part of who she was. I have great admiration for Bill as a devoted caregiver to his sweetheart through the journey of dementia. My condolences to the family.

Diana was always smiling and kind while working the counter at RNO for UAL. She was especially helpful to annoying employees like me who were forced to beg the counter reps to write tickets for us. It was always embarassing to have to ask for this assistance but it was required in order to get passes in those "old days". She was always considerate and did not complain. A very nice lady and we still here in Reno miss her. I was often confused as her husband since my first name is Bill and last name is spelled nearly the same as she and Bill. May God rest your soul dear lady.
