Donna Knowlton Obituary

Donna Bennett Knowlton

St. George

Donna passed away peacefully on September 12, 2013, in St. George, Utah.

She was born July 17, 1925 on small farm in West Jordan Utah to Raymond Bennett and Lucille Richardson. She was the oldest of three siblings. She spent the earlier part of her life growing up on the farm where she was born. Throughout her life she often mentioned the joyous time she had while living on their farm. Her family later moved to Chico, California where Donna spent her teenage years and graduated from Chico High School. It was in Chico where Donna met and fell in love with her future eternal companion, Bob Knowlton a cadet pilot in the United States Army, Air Force stationed at Chico, California for pilot training during World War II. Following the war Donna married and was sealed for time and eternity to Bob in the Salt Lake Temple. She supported Bob as he completed his education at Stanford University School of Law. During this time she served as president of the Stanford University Dames Club. After law school Donna and Bob moved to San Diego, California where she raised her two sons, Bob, Jr. and Tom. She remained active in voluntary community service, taking on many leadership and supportive roles in civic and social projects. She was active in the LDS Church serving faithfully in numerous callings. She had a deep love for temple service. Donna also had a great love for her family and others. During her life, she earned a reputation as a woman with impeccable character, and a creative mind combined with a special willingness and ability to love, and help others. Her life focus was driven by this love, ability, and compassion to give to others. She had a positive and lasting impact on many individuals who she was asked to serve and help. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, and son Thomas Knowlton. She is survived by her son Robert, Jr. (Anita), 4 grandsons and nine great grandchildren. Her family would like to thank all of the caregivers who provided her with wonderful and compassionate care during the past few years. Donna was loved by her family and will be missed by all who knew her. A private service will be held at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California.
