Doris Marie Jones passed away Sept. 3, 2017, in St. George, UT. Doris was born January 27, 1924, in Olean, New York, to Glenn Martin and Elsie I. Lundquist Kibbe. After graduating from Hinsdale Central School, she entered nurses training receiving her RN at Buffalo General Hospital. She entered the Navy Nurses Corp as an Ensign in 1945. She married Lawrence Jones October 17, 1947, in Portsmouth, VA. From this union came three children. They were later divorced.
Doris was a member of the Santa Clara 2nd Ward and loved her ward family dearly. She loved to travel and sew making beautiful dresses for her granddaughters.
She moved to California in 1952, where she lived until her retirement from the Los Angeles County Health Department. She moved to Santa Clara shortly after retiring.
She is survived by her three children, Linda Jones of San Jose Del Cabo, MX, Larry (Sandy) of Roy, UT, Loren (Terry) of Lake Havasu City, AZ; six grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold and Donald; sister, Judy; and grandson, Anthony Earl Jones.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 9, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at the Rachel LDS Chapel, 3815 Rachel Dr., Santa Clara, UT. There will be a viewing Friday, September 8 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff, and Saturday prior to services from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Chapel. Interment will take place in the Santa Clara City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made either to the LDS Humanitarian Aid or the American Red Cross.
