Elma Mary Thompson Blackburn- passed away April 2, 2014 at Beaver Long Term Care Center. She was 98 years old. She was born November 8, 1915 in Minersville, Utah to Earl Dewitt Thompson and Essie Gressman. She was the oldest of 7 children, she attended school in Minersville.

Elma married Douglas Perry Blackburn Nov 30, 1932 in Adamsville, Utah.

Mom was a devoted church member; she was in the Young Women vice presidency and presidency and sang in the choir. She and dad were Temple Workers for many years.

Mom was also a member of the American Legion. She loved the outdoors; picking pine nuts and camping. Elma loved her family she was a great home maker, loved to garden and did a lot of canning for family and friends. At one time she fed the hobos that would come to our back door. She was a great cook and took goodies to many in Minersville. She was a giving and caring person she loved flowers and to travel.

Elma is survived by three children; Ann Louise (Wayne) Christensen of St. George, UT, Hugh Earl (Vicki) Blackburn of Beaver, UT. , Irma Jean Edwards of St. George, UT. Brother; Val (Ann) Thompson of Minersville, UT a Sister; LaRee (Delos) Hollis of Cedar City, UT. 17 Grandchildren, 42 Great Grandchildren and 21 Great Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, grandsons; Danny Blackburn and Wade Edwards, sister; Vera Cooper and brothers; Ward, Dan and Leland. The family would like to thank the physicians and Beaver Long Term care for the kindness to Elma.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 12 at 11:30 in the Minersville LDS Chapel. A viewing will take place Friday, evening, April 11, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. and 9:30 till 11:00 a.m. prior to the service all in the church.
