Gail Bradshaw Obituary

Gail Bradshaw

Cedar City - Our beloved husband, dad, and grandpa passed away Thursday, January 28th, 2021 at age 89 after a long valiant battle with Parkinson's disease. Gail Barber Bradshaw was born November 28th, 1931 in Cedar City, Utah to Stanley Hinton Bradshaw and Christy Barber Bradshaw.

Gail was kind, patient, calm, and dedicated to his family. He had a quiet sense of humor, clever wit, and never lost his spark. He exemplified and valued honesty and integrity, and helped others quietly and anonymously. He strived to find the most efficient method to accomplish tasks, was a forward thinker, and ahead of his time. He enjoyed inventing and found creative and clever plans to streamline everything. He was humble, soft-spoken, gentle, and respected by those he knew. He valued education, hard work, gardening, enjoyed volleyball, basketball season, reading, and could be seen carrying a book everywhere. He looked forward to mountain season and found peace caring for the treasured mountain land. His family adored and loved him beyond measure.

He enjoyed music and was grateful it played an important role in his education. He played violin at the University commencement exercises in his younger years and loved to attend the Utah Symphony and Music Arts.

Gail graduated from Cedar High in 1949, attended and graduated from BAC, (now SUU) and in 1953, attended the University of Utah where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business, graduating with Phi Kappa Phi scholastic honors. He was in the marching band and played first chair violin in the Symphony Orchestra. From 1953 to 1955, he served in the United States Army in Officers Records Maintenance. In 1956, he served a mission in the Central States serving as Mission Secretary. He enjoyed flying and earned his private pilot's license with an instrument rating.

He married Jane Adams in 1970 and they were sealed for time and eternity in the St George LDS Temple. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and quietly and faithfully lived the gospel. He was diligent in following the teachings and served as finance clerk the majority of his life.

He worked at the family dealership early in life and continued at Bradshaw Chevrolet after his mission and army service, co-owning it with his brother. He played a large role in the growth and legacy and continued working part-time into his 80's.

Gail and the family business believed in contributing to the community and University. He, with his brother Robert, established the Bradshaw Chevrolet Buick GEO Scholarship Endowment for Business. He became involved with State Bank of Southern Utah through his father Stanley, one of the original bank founders, and Gail was honored to serve on the Board of Directors. In 1991, he and Jane were inducted into the Old Main Society, and in 2011, received the Outstanding Alumni Award from Southern Utah University. He also served on the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce Board.

Gail reunited with his parents, brother Robert Bradshaw, sister Marian Munson, sister-in-law Onda Bradshaw, brother-in-law Floyd Munson, and brother-in-law Stayner Thompson. He is survived by his wife Jane Adams Bradshaw, daughter Stacie Bradshaw Belshaw (Nathan), grandchildren Kyler, Braden, Kailie Jane, Jaden, Ashlie Rachel, of Cedar City, and sister Dorothy Thompson of Brigham City.

Due to the Covid pandemic, only a small family service will be held. Live-streaming will be available for those wanting to view the service, and online condolences can be sent at www.sumortuary.com. Interment will be at the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.

We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Cedar City Hospital for the kind and respectful care provided during the last week of his life.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to any Parkinson's research foundation.

Gail was a good man who will be greatly missed. He served a mission with my husband in the Central States Mission. He has done much good during his time on earth and I am sure that will continue in the next realm of his life. My deepest sympathy to his wife and family. May you know the peace and comfort that only God can grant

We express our sympathy to you, Jane and Stacy, at the passing of Gail. It was such a pleasure to know and work with Gail at State Bank and at Bradshaw Chevrolet. I always loved my Chevy trucks! He was a fine board member and Ron always enjoyed working with him. Our boys always enjoyed delivering papers to you many years ago and their association with Stacy in High School. May heaven bless you with wonderful memories and the knowledge you will be together again soon!

My name is Maxine Naegle Humphrey. I am Gail's first cousin, My mother was Juanita Bradshaw Naegle (a sister to his dad) We lived in Cedar also. I am 11 years younger then Gail but remember how kind and friendly he always was to me. Jane his wife was also kind. We raised our family in Centerville and Aunt Christy always re-minded me that Centerville was where she was raised! We chose to move south after we retired and live in the St. George area. We love to take friends and family over to Hurricane to the Bradshaw home which is a museum and opened daily. Moving down here has really made me proud of my pioneer heritage. I have been involved in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and feel very close to my roots as I marvel at the dedication of my grandparents who helped found Hurricane and perservered in settling this arid hot area. Enjoyed so much being able to watch the service for a gentle GIANT! May peace be with his family at this time.

I of course knew Gail in my growing up years as my father Paul was the service manager at Bradshaws. One of my memories of Gail was a flight from Cedar City to Ogden to pick up a new van. I had been interested in flying and it was a memorable experience. I have now been flying for close to 50 years. What a good man.
Condolences at his passing.

Gail and I had a special relationship. Whenever we spoke, he never failed to ask about how my father was doing in his own battle with Parkinson’s. He was relentless, for years he pursued Davidson to include SUU in our $50,000 annual Student Investment Portfolio. Thanks in large part to Gail, Davidson has been working with SUU since 2011.
One of the smartest and most personable clients I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.

What a nice service and beautiful tribute it was to my dear Uncle Gail. I think Nathan and the bishop captured his personality and spirit perfectly! That's the man I remember. He was always so good and kind to me. . . always glad to see me and visit with me. I will always remember him as a happy, positive person with a twinkle in his eye and something witty to say, who was kind and caring to a fault. Always respectful of others and especially to his family. So devoted to Jane and Stacy. . . and her family. Always a perfect son to his parents, as far as I knew, and brother to his siblings. I remember how he lived at Grandma's until he found Jane. It was especially a blessing for Grandma to have him there after Grandpa passed away. He made sure all those years, that she was cared for and had everything she needed. I'm sure it was a great comfort to Grandma to have him there until he got married. He also sold me my first car, an aqua Chevy Concours, and shared that excitement with me. My dad and I went to the dealership that day to find a used car for me and we left with a new car, which was way more than I expected! He was a GREAT man, humble, kind, and strong at the same time. A good example for everyone. I will miss him and love him very much. -- Kristy Munson Crest

My husband and I our sad to learn Gail has passed on. We know Gail from the Parkinson Group. My husband has the disease and I would join the group sessions with him. I will freely state that Gail was my absolute favorite. While all the participants are special, I would give Gail more attention than my husband...just something extra special about Gail. He was always so appreciative; he will be missed.

On behalf of Southwest Parkinson's Fitness Group we are deeply saddened at the passing of our friend, Gail Bradshaw. Although he was a kind and gentle soul, he was a warrior when it came to battling Parkinson's disease. Even after he was no longer able to attend the fitness program regularly, he would ask what he could do to assist. He will surely be missed.

What a kind and great man. I played volleyball with Gail almost every Friday night for a couple of years and loved his fun personality. Whenever we ran into each other, Gail always recognized me and made me feel like we were still good friends. My condolences to his family.
