While serving with Ivan Ivan in the Utah State Senate I found him to be one of the most sincere and honest senators in the group. His word was his bond.

How blessed and grateful I am for knowing this great man! (and his family) Floods of fond memories. But one I'll share...Ivan could dance. I remember having my turn to dance with him as a bumbling teenager at youth dances; he made me feel like I actually knew what I was doing and what fun -a very good lead! He was a great leader all the way around, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Bishopric, Dairyman or State Senator..and more! Thankful for his influence.

What a beautiful obituary. It brought to mind many happy feelings and memories. What a GREAT MAN! He and Louise influenced us all for the better.
While reading this, one memory I had was getting milk from the dairy. All of us kids would fight over who got the "glub, glub" - the first pour out of the milk bottle!

I want to express my deepest condolences to the Matheson family at this time. I remember the dairy. It has been many years since I last spoke with Ivan. Ivan James, I also was glad to be able to work with you at Smead. Our prayers are with the entire family at this time as you bid adieu to this great man! May the Lord's comfort and peace be with you as you move on to the next chapter in your lives as he has his!

May there be a huge reunion in Paradise with his wife and family. There are not many of the Class of 1944 remaining. Ivan has made his classmates proud by his accomplishments. May Peace and Love be with his family.

I can't even remember a time that I didn't know Ivan. He is the first bishop I can remember and my first boss (washing bottles early mornings). Any time you went over to visit him or your mom you would leave wanting to be a better person. I LOVED taking my young women over and know he was a giant help to all of them! He was a great example to my family. Thanks for sharing him with all of us!

Dear Matheson Family: I was saddened to read of Ivan's passing and it brought back many fond memories we shared while serving in the Utah Senate together. We were both among the more conservative of the group and so we shared comments and votes on many issue. Ivan was one of the few that I could count on to keep his word no matter what happened. May his memories always be with us.
Sincerely,
Bill Barton

While I didn't know Uncle Ivan very well, his resume speaks for his successes. I know my mother, Grace, would be proud and appreiate his efforts to society.

What a great man he was. I used to bottle milk at the dairy. I earned a lot from him. Thank you.

What a wonderful man. He has always been my hero. I remember his love of music. Once he apologized for missing choir practice because he had had a stroke and had been in the hospital. So much for my excuses, if any. Our love and condolences to the whole family. May you feel comfort and peace.

The Glen and Grace(Matheson) family extend our condolences at this time. Ivan was a special brother to Grace. The family shared many good times together. I am sure he is ready for that new adventure that he has waited so long for.
