Jim Phillips Obituary

James (Jim) C. Phillips

Cedar City, UT

Jim passed away on October 3, 2012 at his home in Cedar City, Utah after fighting a battle with cancer. He was born June 25, 1940 in San Angelo, Texas to William Howell (Dub) Phillips and Peggy Mary Bates. He married his sweetheart Becky Dodds on March 26, 1994 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Jim joined the U.S. Army right after graduating from high school in Dallas, Texas. After the Army, he graduated from college in El Paso, Texas. Jim loved the rodeo and was a steer wrestler with the PRCA. He later joined the U.S. Air Force where he did two tours of Vietnam and was later a flight instructor. Jim was the happiest when he was in the air flying. He had a multitude of interests and careers in his life, the last one being a treasure hunter. He was the true Indiana Jones.

Jim is survived by his wife Becky of Cedar City; sons Lance James of Texas, and James Ryan (J.R.) of Florida. He is also survived by his step-children Denise Critchlow, Linda (Rob Dowse), Jason (Ambure) Critchlow, and Matt (Rachel) Critchlow; 11 grandchildren, and 1 great-granddaughter.

A viewing will be held Saturday, October, 6, 2012 from 11:00 am-12:00 pm at Southern Utah Mortuary (190 N 300 W) in Cedar City, Utah under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences can be made at www.sumortuary.com.
