John Pritchard Obituary

John H. "Jack" Pritchard

John H. "Jack" Pritchard was born in Blue Island, Illinois on August 7, 1936 and passed from this life on July 7, 2014 at the Southern Utah Veteran's Home in Ivins, Utah.

Jack graduated from high school in Wickenburg, Arizona.  He received Bachelor and Masters degrees from Arizona State University and later taught Math and Physics at Paradise Valley High School, also in Arizona where he served as chairman of the Math Department and junior basketball coach.  Jack left teaching in the mid-sixties and spent the rest of his working life on various projects in the computer industry.  Before retiring, he was president of an international computer company based  in London that dealt with the text-processing of newspapers.  Jack enjoyed golfing and bicycling with the guys.  When he was able, he volunteered for veterans through the American Legion.  Jack was a warm and loving man who seasoned life with a strong sense of humor. He was even-tempered and bore life's trials with dignity and grace.  When asked how he was feeling, he would always answer, "Just tremendous."

Jack is survived by his loving wife Rosemary and dear children Susan Pritchard Ruisard, Michael Pritchard, Paul and wife Mary Jane Pritchard, Melissa Pritchard Saye and husband Ralph Saye, Sara Pritchard Ramsey and husband Adam Ramsey.  Also seven precious grandchildren: Jayne Pritchard Berry and husband Isaac Berry, Ian Ruisard and wife Elizabeth, Hali Ruisard, Alec Pritchard, Madeline Pritchard, Mac Saye and Vivi Saye.

Graveside service will be held August 8, 2014 at 10:30 am, Tonaquint Cemetery 1777 S. Dixie Drive, St. George, UT.   Luncheon to follow at LDS hall on Angel Arch Dr. In Sun River.

Jack was my mentor in business. He taught me lessons I've never forgotten. Once, when he was VP of Customer Service in California, he had to face a hostile User Group crowd who wanted to nail his pelt to the wall. He came out on stage wearing a catcher's mask and a chest protector! That disarmed the crowd and Jack scored another run for grace, humor and lovable goodwill. As Hamlet would say, "I shall not look upon his like again."

Jack was great boss and mentor. I learned quite a bit about business and how to manage when we worked together at SII. He was a calming presence in every situation no matter how intense things got.

It was a pleasure serving Jack and your family. He was a special man. I will always remember him enjoying his music, singing and doing his dance. I am sorry for your loss and wish you and your family the best.
