Mary Elliot-Schreck

Mary Elizabeth Elliott Schreck passed over April 24, 2014 at home in Sedro Woolley, WA after an overwhelming battle with cancer. This warrior woman amazed her doctors! Her loving family surrounded her just as she wanted. Mary was born in Fairbanks, Alaska June 4, 1956. She was raised in Fairbanks until she & her brother Monty went to Florida to stay with their Grandmother. The 3 returned to Anchorage to help their mother Marie reestablish her restaurant which was destroyed in the 1964 earthquake. She attended Northern Lights Elementary, Romig Junior High, & graduated from West High School in 1975. She worked & saved during school for many years; then traveled the world with her girlfriend from 3rd grade, Maureen. The adventure of these teen girls included the U.K., Ireland, East Africa, Egypt, France, Portugal, Spain, & Morocco. Before leaving for her travels, she met a special man. After a year, she cut her travels short to go back to her true love, Steve Schreck. They married shortly after. They lived in Anchorage, had two daughters then moved to Bellingham, WA in 1990 where Mary received her real estate license. They prospered while raising their family. Mary enjoyed many things:her family, friends, traveling, gardening, painting, music, but above all:she loved making a deal!! April 2013, she traveled back to Ireland to find her Grandmother's family farm. She did indeed, bringing back slate from the roof. She wanted to paint them for her daughters. "Isn't this the most beautiful land you have ever seen?" She stopped in Belfast to meet her cousin whom she'd just found through Ancestry.com. They had much in common including USA TV shows! A magical trip indeed! She is preceded in death by her mother Marie Elliott, father Tommy Elliott & her belove grandmother Catherine (Cassie) Elliott. Her patient, caring & loving husband of 37 years, Stephen Schreck, survives Mary along with their beautiful daughters; Cassie (Catherine) Schreck & Christy Schreck, both of Seattle, WA, brother; Montgomery Elliott & his sons Frederick & Joseph of Eagle River, in-laws; Bill & Patty Schreck of Anchorage & their children Justin, Allie, Andy, & Carly. Many friends & family in Alaska, Illinois, Minnesota, Texas, Colorado, & Ireland. Also cannot forget her little dog Benny & kitty KiKi. She is greatly missed by all who knew & loved her. She will be forever in our hearts.
