Sean Horan Obituary
of Lowell
LOWELL -- Sean N. Horan Sr., 60, of Lowell, MA, died unexpectedly Monday, September 1, 2014 in Lowell.
Born in Lowell, he was the son of the late Dr. Raymond A. Horan, M.D., and Helen Horan of Chelmsford. He graduated from Chelmsford High School in 1972, from Merrimack College with a BA in Psychology in 1976 and he also received his Master's Degree in Drug and Alcohol Counseling, from Fitchburg State College.
Sean worked as a counselor at the Lowell House. He was an avid musician and bass player for the musical band, the Stone Castle of Chelmsford.
He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church in Lowell.
He is survived by two sons, Sean N. Horan Jr., a senior at Lowell High School, and Ryan W. Horan, a seventh grade student at the Sullivan Middle School; one brother, Thomas and his wife, Martha Horan of Dracut; one sister, Eileen Horan of Dracut; his companion, Mary Mattison of Lowell; a nephew, Thomas W. Horan of Dracut, a niece, Amelia and her husband, Ryan Tobin and their children, Kayla and Ryan Jr. of Hudson, N.H.
HORAN -- Sean N. Horan Sr., of Lowell, MA, died September 1, 2014. Visiting hours Sun. 3 to 7 P.M. Funeral Mon. at 9 A.M. from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST., CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 10 A.M. at St. Michael's Church in Lowell. Burial in Fairview Cemetery, Chelmsford. I was in the same band as Sean, and he will never be forgotten. Will never forget his sense of humor or meeting his children and wonderful family. Losing him has been a tremendous loss to all.

I was in a band with Sean for many years and we reunited with the same band a few years ago. Words cannot express how we are all feeling now. There's a large void in all of our lives now.

In all of the time we worked together Sean never ceased to amaze me. He was a counselors counselor, it wasn't what he did for a living it was who he was. Sean had patience with his patients, god knows he needed it.To quote 'The Town' " I'll see you again brother. On this side or the other."
