Australia Poole

1942 - 2022

Australia Poole age 79, of East High St., Springfield, died Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born June 5, 1942, in Roxboro, North Carolina, he was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Poole Sr. and Georgeanna Banks Poole, two sons, LaBryant and Labrent Poole, two brothers, Jimmy and George Thomas Poole and two sisters, Eula Mae Street and Brenda Moses.
He was a U.S. Army combat veteran of the Vietnam conflict and served from December 1963 until November 1974, was a member of Johnson Chapel A.M.E. Zion church where he served as a Preacher's Steward, and was manager of Safari carwash in Springfield and On the Spot in Lebanon for several years.
He is survived by two sons, LaBronze Poole and Chad (Kendrah) Hamilton of Springfield three daughters, Jackie (Richard) Harris of Decatur, Georgia, LaTonja Keene and Roxanna Hamilton of Springfield, five step-children, three brothers, Floyd Poole Jr. and Vestal Poole (Christa) both of Whitesville, North Carolina, and Robert Poole of Durham, North Carolina, a sister Hattie Lee (Sumpter) Johnson of Laurelton, New York, 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and a special companion of 43 years Mildred Hamilton also survive.
Funeral services for Australia Poole will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Friday, January 14, 2022, at Springfield Baptist Church with Rev. Yolanda Michelle Washington and Rev. Roland Puryear offficiating. Burial will be in Lebanon National Cemetery with military honors by Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Pat Trigg, Donald and Steve Thompson, Cedrik Hagan, Patrick Harris, Ja'ven Adams, LaTavian Hamilton and Greg Hamilton.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Golden Link Masonic Lodge 155.
Visitation will be at River of Life Community Church, 1250 KY-555, Springfield, from 11:00 a.m. till time of service at 12:30 p.m. Friday.
