Marvin Carey Obituary

Marvin Hansford Carey, age 85, of the Cardwell Community of Washington County, KY passed away at 7:20 p.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at the Springfield Nursing & Rehab Center.

A native of Washington County, he was born on April 10, 1938 to the late John William and Zula Devine Carey.

He attended the former Battle Baptist Church where he served as the song leader for many years. He was a farmer, a painter and he enjoyed playing the guitar and he and his wife enjoyed singing together.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Judy Dale Beavers Carey on August 23, 2023; five sisters, Laura Royalty, Stella Beavers, Susie Mattingly, Ruby McRay and Christine Carey and six brothers, George Evan, Irvin, William A., Clarence, James and John Calvin Carey.

Survivors include nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 a.m., Monday, January 22nd at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Hilary Claypool, officiating.

Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.

Serving as pallbearers were Gilbert Carey, Tyler Carey, Matthew Sparros, Beau Henderson, Keith Reed and Jerry Jones.

Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
