Barbara Allene Pile

Muncie - Barbara Allene Pile, 82, passed away peacefully with her loving daughters at her side on Saturday, August 18, 2018. She was born December 10, 1935, in Jamestown, Tennessee, the daughter of Mabel Conatser.

Barbara graduated from York Institute High School, Jamestown, Tennessee, and married Fred A. Pile on December 24, 1956, in Cookeville, Tennessee. They moved to Muncie, Indiana, in 1957, where they would raise their family. She worked several jobs including Ball Memorial Hospital while attending Ball State University and graduating with her degree in 1988. Barbara retired from Ball State University as a Dietary Manager in 2008.

Barbara was a member of Avondale Sympathy Club, BSU Red Birds, Gaston Church of Nazarene, and also attended Wolf River United Methodist Church, Pall Mall, Tennessee, where she also called home. She enjoyed reading, traveling, hosting parties, shopping, and watching IU Hoosiers, Indiana Fever, and Tennessee Lady Vols basketball games. She especially looked forward to her winters spent in Florida, visiting and playing rummikub with her dear Florida friends.

Barbara's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her three daughters, Pamela Lane, (husband-Don), Tammie Smith, (husband-Gary), Jackie Kennedy, (husband-Jim), all of Muncie; one sister, Nancy Hancock; special niece, Jody Hancock; special cousin, Judy Norris; all from Jamestown, Tennessee; four grandchildren; Chris Green, (Kristi Mann), Jenna Grile, (husband-Ken), Tyler Eskew, Katelyn Lynch, (husband-Kevin), all of Muncie; six great grandchildren; Taylor Green, Avigail Grile, Ezra Grile, Miriam Grile, William Lynch, and Lucy Lynch, all of Muncie. Also surviving are seven step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, both in Indiana and her home state of Tennessee.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Fred A. Pile; her Mother, Mabel Conatser, and her infant brother, William.

Barbara would also want recognized her very special caregiver, Janell Lucas, Gaston, Indiana, and the ViaQuest Hospice team: Ron, Michelle, Melissa, and Barb, for their love and compassion.
