Bruce Smith Obituary
Bruce Douglas Smith,"Doug", 67, passed away at IU Ball Memorial Hospital on October 26, 2017. Doug was born on April 28, 1950 to Harold and Frances (Hansard) Smith.Doug worked for Ontario Corporation for 15 years, then went on to be a freelance artist and a stay at home dad. Doug was a very creative artist and musician. He played the guitar, bass, piano, drums and the ukulele. He could play any instrument he picked up. Doug and his sons have a Tom Petty tribute band called "The Petty Project". Doug was an accomplished artist in several medias and had illustrations printed in many publications including; Fur-Fish-Game, Mayflower, American Greetings, Disney, Garfield, MITS and Ancient Heroes.Doug is survived by his wife Ash Smith, two sons; Adam (Mandy) Smith, Shane Smith, a daughter; Maren (Brandon) Potter, three sisters; Connie Ellis, Carol (Tom) Alexander, Dawn(Mike) Wolf, five grandchildren; Roady, Cage, Shy, Townshend Smith, Laura Potter and one on the way, many nieces and nephews, family and friendsDoug is preceded in death by his parents.A funeral service for Doug will be held on Thursday November 2, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Garden View Funeral Home.
