Frank Greene Obituary

Frank J. Greene, 93

Frank J. Greene, 93, passed away peacefully October 26, 2016 at Lee Memorial Hospital, Fort Myers, FL, with his wife and son by his side.

Frank was born February 14, 1923 to Thomas and Francis (Lodge) Greene. He married the love of his life Phyllis on June 30, 1948. They had two sons, Tom (wife, Kathy), Albany IN, and Mike, Fort Myers FL.

Frank enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in April of 1942 and was Honorably Discharged four years later in April of 1946. Later that same year Frank went to work for Indiana Bell Telephone and retired in 1981 after thirty-five years of service.

He enjoyed sailing and anything to do with the water. He enjoyed golfing and helping friends and family before losing his eye sight. In later years he enjoyed listening to his books for the blind, especially a good western. And each night before falling asleep, he sang to his wife.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John and Bill and sister, Mary Ann.

He is survived by his wife and sons; five grandchildren, Eric Greene, Scott (Deanna) Greene, Zach (Katy) Greene, Jill (Kenny) Frontz, Tyler (Sara) Greene; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no services.

The family asks that memorials be made out to The Lighthouse of SWFL. And mailed to The Lighthouse of SWFL, 35 W. Mariana Ave., N. Fort Myers, FL. 33903. (A non-profit for the blind).

Frank, you have been missed in so many ways. I remember all the Thanksgiving´s that we shared at your house in Albany, Indiana. What a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner every year. I remember us kids getting to sit down and play the organ with all the different instruments on the organ and then Rick and I ended up buying your organ. Thank you for all the good times that you and Phyllis showed us. RIP.
