Helen Barker Obituary

Helen L. (Hensley) Barker, 88

MUNCIE - Helen L. (Hensley) Barker, 88, went to sit at the right hand of The Lord Tuesday, April 21, 2015.

Helen was born March 12, 1927 to Floyd and Lois Hensley in Muncie. She attended Muncie Central High School and graduated in 1945. She married Bobbie Barker September 8, 1945. She was a lifelong member of Fountain Square United Methodist Church. Helen was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also 'Granny' to many of the neighborhood children, always ready to offer a good card game or Shirley Temple movie and snacks.

She enjoyed her many flowers, golfing, especially the golf trips with her church group, knitting, crocheting, and Wednesday afternoon euchre club and rarely missed an Indiana Pacer game.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of seventy years, Bobbie Barker; children, Sally (Bill) Weisse, Timothy (Vicky) Barker, and Gregory (Debera) Barker; grandchildren, Lori (Trent) Perry, Beth Brandon, Brent (Jamie) Brown, Michelle (Craig) Stephens, Eric (Kim) Barker, Teresa (Chad) Thomas, and Andy (Barbee) Barker; great-grandchildren, Bradley Perry, Katie Perry, Rachael Rothar, Caroline Brown, Jayce Brown, Bryce Barker, Madelynn Barker, Rylie Barker, Kiersten Thomas, Ashley Thomas, Alexander Thomas, Hayven Barker, and Kaleb Barker; her aunts, Anna Pryor and Jeanette White.

Services are 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Fountain Square United Methodist Church, 4405 S. Madison Street, Muncie. Pastor Steve Graves will be officiating. Burial will follow at Hawk Cemetery.

Friends and family are invited and may call from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fountain Square UMC.

Teresa and family,
I'm sad to hear about the loss of your grandmother. I know she meant a lot to you. The thought of our grandmothers rejoicing together in heaven and enjoying each other like they did while growing up together makes me smile.

I'm so very sorry for the loss. I remember when I was young and stayed a time or few with Teresa and Lori and we would go to church on Sunday. She always treated me like one of her own. Praying for the family through this most difficult time. Much Love
