Max Locke Obituary

Max D. Locke, 83

MUNCIE - Max D. Locke, 83, of Yorktown, passed away Sunday afternoon, September 27, 2015 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie after a brief illness.

He was born August 1, 1932 in Lynn, Indiana to Offitt "Whitey" and Ruby Locke.

Max graduated from Royerton High School in 1951 where he was on the varsity basketball, baseball and track teams. Upon completing service in the U.S. Army Air Force during the Korean War, Max went to work for Delco Battery where he worked in production and plant protection for forty-five years.

Max became a member of the Masonic Lodge in 1961 and was a member of the Yorktown Lion's club. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He was also an avid Colts fan.

Max is survived by his three children, Scott A. Locke of Murray, Kentucky, William N. (wife Debra) Locke of Norman, Oklahoma, and Brenda Jo (husband, Chris) Moore of Hope, Kansas; four grandchildren, Nathan M. (wife, Melivier) Moore, Kyle Locke (wife, Rachael), Melony E. Moore and Vanessa R. Hyman; two great-grandsons, Jeremiah Hyman and August Locke; a brother, Norman (wife, Sharon) Locke of Liberty, Indiana and a sister, Rebecca (husband, James) DeWitt of Muncie; and great friends, Larry and Patsy Perry, Muncie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of sixty-three years, JoAnn; and sisters, Janice Anderson and Mila Kennedy.

Services are 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Uncle Max your were the BEST! The best dad, best grandfather, best brother, best uncle, best great grandfather, and best friend to Larry. I am so happy that we had such a good visit a few weeks ago. I know you are in good hands in heaven with your beloved wife, JoAnn. We will miss you. I know you are in a better place. We are sad now.....but soon that sadness will be replaced with wonderful, heart warming memories. Love you, Patti
