Phil E. Butler, 85

TRINITY, NC - Phil E. Butler, 85, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016.

He was born on January 1, 1931 in Muncie, IN, son of the late William and Olive Moppin Butler.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Navy, having served in WW II and the Korean conflict.

In 1966 he moved to this area and established Sir Pizza of North Carolina, in December of that year. Phil was a member of American Legion Post 8 in Lexington and he attended Springfield Friends Meeting. He enjoyed camping, traveling and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were his brothers, Bill Butler, Jr., and Wayne Butler; a grandson, Jerimie Butler; two daughters-in-law, Wanda Butler and Diane Butler and a son-in-law, Ron Carroll.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife of sixty-six years, Shirley Davis Butler; his children, Phillip Butler and his wife, Becky, Diana Carroll, Danny Butler, Joey Butler and Jeff Butler and his wife, Patsy; his sister, Patsy Campbell and his brother, Bobby Butler and his wife, Kay; also surviving are nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A service to celebrate Phil's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 16, at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, NC with Josh Brown, Pastor of Springfield Friends Meeting, officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery, with Military rites by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

His family will receive friends from 12:30 pm.. to 1:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
