Ronald L. "Ron" Hornbaker

Hartford City - Ronald L. "Ron" Hornbaker, 74, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at his residence.

He was born on May 22, 1943 in Hartford City, the son of Howard L. and Lotta Belle (Gutshall) Hornbaker and graduated from Royerton High School in 1961. On April 6, 1984 in Harford City, he married Ann (Booher) Schmidt.

Ron worked for Marhoeffer, Beerco, First Fleet and part-time for LabCorp after he retired. He enjoyed fishing, wood carving and 4th of July Cornhole.

He is survived by his wife of over 33 years, Ann Hornbaker of Hartford City; three children, Rebecca McConnell (husband, Edward) of Dunkirk, Jaime Charnley and Cory Schmidt (wife, Dianna), both of Hartford City; nine grandchildren, Stefan and Matthew McConnell, Joshua, Jordan and Jaylyn Charnley, Michael, Maddlyn, Jeremiah Schmidt and Jenna Dent; three great-grandchildren, Hunter, Hannah and Hugh; one brother, Howard "Champ" Hornbaker of Macy; one step-brother, Chris Leedy of Macy; one step-sister, Jolene Mussellman of Hartford City; his step-mother, Monica Howard (husband, Robert) of Macy; and life-long friend, Jimmie Pyle (wife, Mary) of Selma.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Phyllis Valenzuela.

There will be no services and cremation will take place.

Memorial contributions may be directed to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospice, 2401 W. University, Muncie, IN 47303-9989.
