Tony A. McCord

Muncie - Tony A. McCord, 54, of Muncie, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at his home following an extended illness.

Tony was born on April 17, 1967 in Winchester. He graduated from Wes-Del High School in 1985. Tony worked as a roofer for Blackmore and Buckner Roofing and was a longtime member of the Gaston Fire Department. Tony enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, kids, and grandkids.

Tony is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Gidget McCord; two daughters, Ashley McCord (fiancé Christopher Jones) of Muncie and Haley McCord (fiancé Tyler Boxell) of Portland; two grandchildren, Jayden and Emma Gustin; siblings, Wendy Moore (husband Larry), Nikki Caldwell, Joe McCord (wife Carrie), Brad McCord (wife Heather), Donnie McCord (wife Rachael) Jerry McCord (husband Alex); grandmother, Marcella Dickey (husband Jeff); stepmother, Connie McCord; sisters-in-law, Penny Phillips, Terressa Marcum, and Heather Brown (husband Steve); brother-in-law, Kelly Fields; best friend, Amy Koons; and several nieces and nephews. Tony also adopted into his life many of the Gaston kids including Ashley Gulley, Sasha Janney (husband Tyler), Meranda Woodard (husband Michel) Meghan Cornett, Kristy Hall, and Jessica Hall.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Rick Sr. and Toni McCord; and three brothers, Rick Jr., James, and Todd McCord; grandparents, Robert and Betty Jean McCord; great-grandmother, Mildred Sweeney; and father and mother-in-law, Randolph and Pat Marcum.

A funeral service to celebrate Tony's life will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 7, 2021 at Gant Funeral Homes - Gaston Chapel, 109 W. Elm St., Gaston, IN 47342. Pastor Larry Moore will officiate. Burial will follow in Thompson Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, May 6, 2021 and one hour prior to services on Friday at Gant Funeral Homes - Gaston Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Huntington's Disease Society of America, 355 W. 16th St., Indianapolis, IN 46202.

Sorry for your loss Gidget. I considered Tony a friend for life. I met him while we worked at Furrow and we clicked immediately. He had a tough exterior but had a heart of gold. He was a hard worker, and wanted to help others succeed. We had lost touch these last few years, but I never forgot Tony and the kindness he showed to me. RIH my friend, you will be missed.
