Winona (Brazier) Davis

Munice - Winona (Brazier) Davis took her Saviors hand and departed her earthly body on Friday, May 11, 2018. She was born February 7, 1926 in Miller City, IL to Oscar and Josephine (Ayers) Brazier. She was the youngest of her parents three children. Winona married her childhood sweetheart Shelly Davis, Sr; they were married 71 1/2 years, to this union ten children were born.

Winona was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend and a Christian. She was a homemaker, the former President of the Junior Missionary of Calvary Baptist Church of Muncie, IN, former First Lady of New Hope Baptist Church of Muncie, IN and First Lady of Second Baptist Church of Rushville, IN. She attended New Liberty Baptist Church of Muncie, IN. A current member of Union Missionary Baptist Church. She was known for her kind, sweet and caring disposition. She was an excellent cook. Her specialties included homemade rolls, homemade ice cream, fried chicken that was very delectable and the talk of the neighborhood. In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her yard, visiting with family and friends, singing and listening to gospel music.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, Lorna Davis, Veeda Hampton-Williams, Sharon Davis, Judy (Willie) Spry, Phyllis Davis, Charles Davis, Terry Davis, Sr. and James Davis all of Muncie, IN, Doris Speaks of Indianapolis, IN and Shelly Davis, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA; 16 grandchildren. 22 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandsons; sister-in-law, Edna Smith of Southfield, MI; special cousin, Ada Brazier-Harris of Chicago, IL; special friend and former neighbor, Izetta Graham of Muncie, IN; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rev. Shelly Davis, Sr.; grandchildren, Lloyd Carey, Terry Davis, Jr., Raenita Davis-Jordan; twin great-grandchildren, Gracten and Gracelyn Hampton; brothers, Ronald (Ida) Brazier and Harold (Mamie) Brazier; five brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; special friends, John Johnson, Jr., Rev. Leo and Mattie Scaife and Florence Bowlen.

Funeral service is 11:00 am Monday, May 21, 2018 at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 1100 N. Macedonia Ave. Pastor Robert Scaife will officiate, with visitation one-hour prior.

In lieu of flowers please chose any of the following to send contributions to Alzheimer's Foundation, Motivate Our Minds, or Union Missionary Baptist Church.

Arrangements entrusted to Carmichael Funeral Service.
