Alberto Lopez COLUMBIA Funeral service for Alberto Lopez, 58, of Columbia, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Columbia Church of Christ, 1049 Harbor Drive, West Columbia, SC 29169. Associate Minister Guy Prince will officiate. Burial, with USAF honors, will be held in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Monday, March 20, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. The family will greet friends from 1:00 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18 at the church prior to the service. Mr. Lopez passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at his residence. Born in Havana, Cuba, he was a son of the late Jose Lopez and Bertha Cruz Lopez. Alberto was a loving husband, father and brother who honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed by the South Carolina Department of Mental Health as a nursing supervisor, and also worked as a nurse at the Bryan Psychiatric Hospital, and the S.C. Department of Disabilities and Special Needs. Alberto is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Deborah Clark Lopez; daughter, Lauren Michelle Lopez; son, James Austen Lopez; brothers, Nestor Lopez and Jorge Lopez; and a large and loving extended family.
