Annie Morgan Obituary

Annie Lou Calvitt Morgan NORTH - Annie Lou Calvitt Morgan, 96, passed away December 29, 2016. Born August 31, 1920, in Norway, SC, she was a daughter of the late Percy M. and Polly Onley Calvitt. Mrs. Morgan graduated from Willow High School in 1937. She retired from Stone Manufacturing in North, SC, in 1985. As an active retiree, her love of people and learning led her to a new career as an academic assistant, retiring at age 86 after twenty years with Dover Elementary and North Middle High School in North. She was a member of First Baptist Church of North and the TEL/Deborah Class. She was a caring and giving person who loved her church, her family, friends and community and was always ready to help when needed. She was known for her beautifully decorated birthday and wedding cakes. She enjoyed her garden, sewing, making baby blankets by hand and visiting and sharing home baked items with friends. She loved nothing better than opening her home for a gathering place for family and friends and she made everyone feel welcome there. Mrs. Morgan leaves a legacy to family and friends of an unwavering faith and trust in God and her Savior. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Morgan Jackson and son-in-law, Tyler E. Jackson of West Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Steven (Lera) Jackson of Simpsonville, SC and Amy Sease-DeVore of Lexington, SC; great-grandchildren, Lera Martha Jackson, Amelia Jackson, Victoria Jackson, Bentley Jackson and Payton Jackson of Simpsonville, Tyler Sease, Abigayle Sease, Mary Claire DeVore, Jackson DeVore and Sarah Grace DeVore of Lexington; brothers, Samuel Calvitt of Columbia SC and Palmer Calvitt of Walhalla SC; sisters-in-law, Rebecca Calvitt of Hoover, Alabama and Brenda Calvitt of Lexington, SC, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Herbert E. Morgan; her sisters, Alice Morgan, Margie Woods, Mary Hamilton, Nina Sharpe, Martha Ann Calvitt, Emma Calvitt, and brothers, J.R. Calvitt, and Claude Calvitt. The family would like to express special thanks to Sibble Brooks and Susan Calvitt for their devotion and loving care; the nurses and staff of Lexington Medical Center Third South and Compassionate Care Hospice. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2016, at Culler McAlhany Funeral Home, (www.mcalhanyfuneralhome.com) North SC. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 2016, at First Baptist Church, North, SC, with Rev. Rick Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, North, SC.
