Mrs. Gary died June 6, 2010. Born August 24, 1928, in High Point, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Earl. A. and Lillian Hicks Byrum. She had attended Queens College in Charlotte, was a former volunteer with Meals on Wheels and was a very active member of Ashland U.M.C.
Surviving are her husband, Elwyn Gary Jr. of Columbia; sons, Doug Gary of Charleston, Stuart Gary of Denver; grandchildren, Jasmine Gary of Charleston, Desire' Gary of Greensboro, N.C., Emily Gary of Denver; sister, Viola Garner of West Palm, Fla. She was predeceased by her son, David Stuart Gary, and sister, Karolen Shaw.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ashland U.M.C., 2600 Ashland Road, Columbia, SC 29210.
