Alice Baker Obituary

Alice Lynn Baker, 76, of Kensett, died Saturday, July 12, 2014. She was born November 23, 1937, in Searcy, the daughter of Jessie Thomas and Bennie Lydell Reynolds. She graduated from White County Training School as Salutatorian of her class. At an early age, she professed her hope in Christ and joined Bethlehem Baptist Church in Searcy. She later met and married James K Baker on November 21, 1957, and to this union 9 children were born. After the family moved to Kensett, they united with Centennial Baptist Church. Alice is survived by her husband, James K. Baker; her children, James I. Baker (Undra), Jane A. Baker, Judith M. Hart (David), Jewel B. Harris (Lesley), Alice F. Nance, Jessie R. Baker (Deanna), Twyla P. Baker, and Andy K. Baker; a brother, Gerald Reynolds (Mary); 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; eight sisters- in-law, Clarice Baker, Lucille Baker Hart, Velta Baker, Lillian Bowman, Emma McClendon, Phyllis Baker, Gertrude Baker, and Virginia Hurtt (Phillip), and three brothers-in-law, Marshall Baker, (Adelle), Mark Baker, and Vincent Baker (Allyson); and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Dinah M. Baker; and two sisters, Patsy Donaldson and Cheryl Davis. Visitation will be Friday, July 18 at the Powell Funeral Home of Searcy, from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 19 at The River Church, at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are by Powell Funeral Home of Searcy.www.powellfuneralhome.net Directions to church: Hwy 67-167, Exit 48, Judsonia, Arkansas
