Bruce Fox Obituary

HAMPTON - Mr. Bruce Wayne Fox, Sr., 86, of Hampton, SC, died Tuesday afternoon, June 2, 2009, in the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro, SC, after an extended illness.

Born November 22, 1922, in Toledo, OH, he was the son of the late Harry and Vivian Fox. He was retired and at one time worked for Public Financial in Toledo, OH. He moved to South Carolina in 1981 where he worked at Maxwell Brothers Furniture Company and Le Creuset in Yemassee, SC. He recently retired from his own lawn care service after 10 years. He served in the Army during World War II and was an active member of the American Legion Post 108 in Hampton. He was a member of Community Faith Fellowship and served as a deacon for 15 years and was recently a member of Open Arms Fellowship where he was affectionately known as “Candy Bruce” to all.

He was married to Doris Mae Fox of Hampton, SC, and is survived by two daughters: Sherry Clay of Toledo, OH, and Linda Smalley and husband Marvin of Cleveland, TN, one daughter-in-law, Barbara Fox of Columbia, SC, and four sons: Bruce W. Fox, Jr. and wife Kim of Warren, OH, Kelly V. Fox and wife Kagendo of Lancaster, PA, David R. Fox and wife Becki of Warren, OH, and Randall L. Fox of Colton, CA, three brothers: Harley Fox of Toledo, OH, Gerald Fox of California, Robert Fox and wife Evey of Hudson, MI, and one sister, Karen Foster of Osseo, MI. There are 19 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 6th, 2009, at Open Arms Fellowship at 3 p.m. in Hampton, SC. The service is open to family and friends.

Memorials may be made in his memory to Open Arms Fellowship, 402 Hoover St. N., Hampton, SC 29924 or Alzheimer’s Association, Coastal Carolina SC Chapter, PO Box 80459, Charleston, SC 29416.

Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home of Hampton, South Carolina (803-943-3352) is in charge of all arrangements.
