Carl Douglas WINNSBORO- It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loved one, Carl Macy Douglas on November 7, 2014. It brings joy to know he is now with the Lord after battling cancer. Born April 3, 1929 in Winnsboro, SC, Carl was the son of the late Dr. James Edgar Douglas, Jr. and Annie Gibson Douglas. Carl brought so much joy to his family and we are grateful to have had the opportunity to make great memories and say our goodbyes in his final days. Carl was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend. Carl served his country in the United States Air Force from 1950-1953. He is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 63 years, Katherine Douglas; brother, Jimmy Douglas and wife Brigitte all of Winnsboro, SC; sister-in-law Betty Canady of Newman, GA; daughter Kathy Howe and husband Glenn of Jacksonville, FL; sons Carl Douglas of Mt. Pleasant, SC; James Douglas and wife Ann of Greenville, SC; grandchildren Carol Douglas of Charlotte, NC; Michael Douglas and wife Leslie of El Paso, TX; Ryan Howe and wife Becky of Simpsonville, SC; Beth Douglas of Greenville, SC; Luke Douglas of Columbia, SC and great-grandchildren, Hayden Howe and Addison Douglas. In addition to his parents, Carl is predeceased by two brothers, James Edgar "Bubba" Douglas and David Douglas; two sisters, Anne "Simmie" Melvin and Dorothy "Dot" Traylor. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Winnsboro conducted by the Reverend Julie Belman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Afterwards, the family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of the caregivers as well as Compassionate Care Hospice for their support in Carl's time of need.
