Carl McClure Obituary

Columbia, South Carolina - A funeral service for Carl Allen McClure will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Mr. McClure died Wednesday, December 29, 2021. Born in Waynesville, N.C., he was a son of the late Gus Allen and Marvenia Hope Jones McClure. He served as a nurse for most of his career and most recently as an instructor of nursing at Midlands Technical College.
Surviving are his wife of almost 50 years, Dr. Elaine McClure; children, Hope Quilal-lan (Arren), Maj. Kevin McClure, U.S. Army, Valerie Coppinger (Jason); six grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Special Olympics of S.C.

Mr. Carl was my husbands nurse for several years. Ray was so disappointed when Carl told him he was not going to be coming out to take care of him anymore. Carl was a gentle, kind and compassionate man and cared so much for his patients. May God bless and comfort you all.

Mr. Carl had a big impact on my life as one of my instructors at Midlands Technical College. He and I bonded over our passion for psychology. He was a gentle and kind soul, and we were kindred spirits. When I saw him just a few weeks ago, I had no clue that that would be my last time seeing him. We had so many great conversations about not only nursing, but about life. We both shared a love for God, and we had many talks about that as well. I know he is resting in Heaven and I know I´ll see him again. So I say not goodbye, but I´ll see you again...

Carl has been my friend for 34 years. He has been my collegue at Midlands Technical College and students felt that he really helped them in their clinical experience. I will certainly miss this extraordinary and kind friend.
