Orlando, Florida - Carl Edward Skenes Jr., 65 of Orlando, Florida passed away on January 4, 2021, due to complications from COVID. He was born in Columbia, S.C. and raised in Charleston, S.C.
He was the son of Betty H. Skenes and the late son of Carl Edward Skenes Sr. of Charleston, S.C., and husband of the late Tina Benson Skenes of Rockingham, North Carolina.
Carl was a beloved entertainer beginning his career in 1973 as a magician, daredevil and showman. He will be remembered not only for his many illusions but for his adventures that took him throughout the country and world and even onto national television. During his long career, Carl held private performances to the amazement of top corporations and celebrities. Additionally, Carl performed for many years with the Walt Disney Company at their Hollywood Studios theme park in Orlando. As well, Carl delighted thousands of children in one of his most treasured performances….that of Santa Claus.
Carl is survived by his daughter Victoria Skenes (Dieter Humpsch) granddaughter Everleigh Ocean, of Windermere, FL. son Carl Edward Skenes III of Orlando, brothers Gary Skenes (Yvonne) of Atlanta, Michael Skenes of Columbia, S.C., sister Janice Skenes (Wendy Wilcenski) and nieces Grace and Amelia of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and mother Betty Skenes of both Lexington and Charleston, S.C.
