Charles Anderson Creech, Sr. COLUMBIA - A Memorial service celebrating the life of Charles Anderson Creech, Sr., beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend will be held Tuesday, June 23 at 3:00 at Riverland Hills Baptist Church in Columbia, SC. Born February 11, 1938 in Blackville SC, he was the son of John Melbourne Creech, Sr. and Elizabeth Hair Creech. He attended Blackville High School, the University of South Carolina and Clemson College. He retired from the South Carolina Public Service Commission. He was a member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday School teacher, Usher, Deacon and Trustee. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary McLain Creech, son Charles Anderson (Andy) Creech, Jr., (Kim) daughter Miriam Cumbee and son David Creech. Grandchildren are Captain Jeff A. Creech of the US Army, Rebecca Eddins (Scott) and Elijah Cumbee, brother Richard A. Creech and sister-in-law Sandra S. Creech, nieces Sandy Creech and Mandy Harrington (Jeff). Charles was known to all who knew him as a man full of love and kindness. He so loved with all of his heart his God, his Family, and his Friends and was very verbal in expressing this love to us all. Our family wants to express our heartfelt thanks for the many expressions of love that he was shown from the doctors, nurses, and staff at Palmetto Richland Heart Hospital and at Health South. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Riverland Hills Baptist Church Benevolence fund. The family will receive visitors from 2:00-2:45 and after the service. Barr-Price.com (803) 356-4411

I have not seen Mr. Creech, as I knew him, in some years. The Creeches were early members of Riverland Hills and I knew the family from church and from friendships with my parents and brothers and from the Irmo schools.

Mr. Creech edified and encouraged those whom he came in contact with, a gift that seems to be growing rarer these days. His sense of humor and booming voice and larger than life presence and contagious enjoyment of life and love for Mrs. Creech and his family left a lasting positive mark on my life and encourage me to this day! Just last week I thought of Mr. Creech fondly while I was traveling and rented a VW Beetle. He was definitely able to get the miles out of those.

We will do well to remember Mr. Creech and do our best to follow the outstanding example he set in dedication to God and family.

My heart goes out to Mrs Creech and the Creeches.

Love, Walt Partrich

Charlie was always one of my very favorite people at the PSC. He was such a special person to everyone. As it happens I just lost my husband Vince in February so I want you to know that my heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and your family. It is hard to lose someone you love so much for so long. You will be in my thoughts & prayers, as will be your family. This is a sad year. Erna Prawdzik

I am one of the many privileged to have known Mr. Charles Creech. He is one of those rare individuals that you realize you will not be able to measure up to and yet admire him that much more because of it. God Bless the Creech family as you wait to see him again. God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. Mt. 22:31-33
