Charles Dunne Obituary

Charles Daniel "Dan" Dunne Jr. FRIPP ISLAND - A funeral mass to celebrate the life of Charles Daniel 'Dan' Dunne Jr. will be held on Monday, June 25th at 10 a.m. at St. Peters Catholic Church in Beaufort, SC. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 24th from 3 p.m. 5 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Beaufort, SC. Dan was born on March 16th, 1955 to Margaret Maxwell and Charles Daniel Dunne in White Plains, NY. A graduate of the College of Insurance in New York, Dan married Kathy Welle on April 3, 1982. Together they raised Megan and Timothy and the four of them lived in New York, New Jersey, North Carolina & South Carolina. Dan loved quality time with his family, specifically annual baseball trips with Tim, and never missed a swim meet or basketball game for his children. Dan and Kathy retired to Fripp Island SC where Dan has enjoyed serving with Fripp Island Sea Rescue and playing with his grandchildren. Dan is survived by his wife Kathy of 36 years, daughter Megan (Gabe) McDonnough of Florida and son Tim (Kirstin Swankie) Dunne of Colorado, 5 grandchildren Morgan, Ben, Maggie, Charlie Daniel, and Simon McDonnough, his mother Margaret Dunne of New York, brother Tom (Mary) of Maine, sisters Susan (Randy) of Connecticut, Karen (Joe) of New York, and in-law's Barbara (Kenney) of Connecticut, Stephen (Debi) of New York and many special cousins, nieces and nephews and friends with whom he shared loving and close relationships. Dan was predeceased by his father Charlie, and his in-laws Jane and Howard Welle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fripp Island Sea Rescue at 16 Sea Mist Road, Fripp Island, SC 29920.
